Who Should Pay the Bill for Promoting Green Electricity? An Experimental Study on Consumer Preferences
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents an experimental investigation of the individual willingness to pay (WTP) for green electricity. The experimental design comprises a public-choice scenario and a individual-choice scenario. It involves three different payment vehicles for the public promotion of renewables: direct tax, indirect tax, and CO2 tax. We test for the extent of freeriding, the impact of different payment vehicles on individual WTP, and crowding-out effects caused by the public promotion of green electricity. Combined with data collected by means of a supplementary opinion survey, our results indicate that individuals prefer binding collective contributions rather than individual market-driven activities in this field.

Should Indians Pay more for Renewable Energy Based Electricity? - The Need for Evidence Based Consumer Tariffs for Electricity in India
India seeks to achieve 175 Giga-Watt (GW) of Renewable power by 2022. As of December 2017, out of 333 GW of total installed capacity of electricity, close to 62GW come from renewable sources. Meeting the set targets calls for augmentation of renewable energy based capacities as expeditiously as possible. However, the sick financial health of the distribution companies/utilities, who act a...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study on the Gap Between Willingness to Pay and Willingness to Donate for Green Electricity
According to Champ et al. (1997), we have to differentiate between willingness to pay (WTP) and willingness to donate (WTD) in eliciting individual preferences for public goods. Because strong incentives exist to understate the willingness to spend on the public good and to freeride on other people’s contributions, WTP forms the upper limit for WTD. This paper presents an experimental study on ...
متن کاملPromoting Corporate Image: A Reflection on Green Supply Chain Management Approach
Corporate image is an important organizational resource that enables to create, strengthen and sustain competitive advantage. Different antecedents have been identified for corporate image in the literature including quality of products and services, consumer consideration or distribution system. Green supply chain management appears to be an antecedent of corporate image too. This study examin...

The important defect of the previous models , is assumed that consumer behavior is based on logic and with a rise in the price their consumption decreased and they accurately have no problems with their control. However, various parameters such as lifestyle, habits and emotions and something like that can be effective. In this paper, we use the new model called the OLG model and the CRRA funct...
متن کاملA distributed algorithm for demand-side management: Selling back to the grid
Demand side energy consumption scheduling is a well-known issue in the smart grid research area. However, there is lack of a comprehensive method to manage the demand side and consumer behavior in order to obtain an optimum solution. The method needs to address several aspects, including the scale-free requirement and distributed nature of the problem, consideration of renewable resources, allo...
